Fuel price collection system

About the client

The client is a logistics company managing a large truck fleet and seeking to optimize fuel consumption and expenses. Fluctuations in fuel prices in different countries and the diversity of suppliers created the need for a centralized solution that allows for quick and accurate comparison of fuel prices across Europe.

Challenge

Before the project began, fuel price information was collected manually from various sources – websites, APIs and emails. This was not only time-consuming, but also prone to errors. The client needed an automated system that would ensure continuous data collection, processing and presentation in real time.

Solution

IT team created a fuel price collection system that automatically reads and processes data from multiple sources – HTML pages, API and email messages. The system analyzes the collected information, stores it in a PostgreSQL database and provides it to transport managers via API access. One of the innovative solutions is the proximity fuel grouping function, which allows users to more quickly identify the most optimal price along the driver's route.

Result

The developed system significantly reduced the amount of manual work, automated data collection and gave the company the opportunity to monitor fuel price changes in real time. Transport managers can make faster purchasing decisions, and the company saves costs, by selecting the most economical fuel suppliers. The solution has become an integral part of the company's logistics management ecosystem.
